Dr. Doreen Brady-West
Dr. Doreen Brady-West has been a consultant haematologist and a lecturer
in Pathology at the University of the West Indies, Mona, since 1995. She
has previously worked as the director of the National Blood Transfusion
Services and is currently the lead trainer for "Youth at the Crossroads"
which is the HIV prevention strategy of the Campus Crusade for Christ.
She also serves in the Christian education department of the Mona Open
Bible church. Dr. Brady-West is a ranking member of a group of concerned
Christian doctors who have joined with church leaders and legal and media
professionals to present an organized challenge to abortion on demand
in Jamaica.
Rev. Peter Garth
Rev. Garth is a graduate of Jamaica Theological Seminary and has served
as pastor of Hope Gospel Assembly for the past 24 years. He is Chaplain
and Chairman of the Board of Merl Grove High School and is 1st Vice President
(and former President) of the Associated Gospel Assemblies (AGA). He is
a member of the National Council of Education and of the General Education
Commission of AGA. However, his greatest boast is being married to Flora
(nee Hanson) for thirty years and being the father of Jonathan and Charlene.
He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. He speaks
at the press conference in his capacity as President of the Jamaica Association
of Evangelicals (JAE).
Ms. Zandra Levy
Ms. Levy is a native of Kingston and graduated from Barry University in
Miami, Florida with a Masters Degree in Social Work and Counseling (MSW)
in 2005. After college, she worked in many capacities helping address
real human needs. She has worked in a Miami/Dade inner city community
assisting disadvantaged children and their families. She also worked for
the Urban League of Broward County teaching young people about community
abstinence, and presently she offers her expertise in family life ministries
through parenting workshops, bereavement counseling and teen outreach.
She is a founding member of Youth for Life which is a parachurch organization
established for the purpose of fighting abortion in Jamaica.
Ms. Christina Milford
Christina Milford served Cable & Wireless Jamaica Ltd. in various
positions for 27 years in the Technical Services Department. She is also
certified in Biblical Studies at World Changers Bible Institute, TN, and
is currently pursuing her BA in Guidance and Counselling at the International
University of the Caribbean. Since January 2005 she has also been volunteer
Counsellor and Board Member for Vision Makers WorldReach, a Christian,
Non-Profit, Vocational Training, Community Based, Non-Government Organisation.
Together with 12 others she founded Pregnancy Resource Centre of Jamaica
(PRCJ) in 2006, propelled by a vision conceived February 29, 1997. In
this capacity, she directly counsels and interfaces with abortion-vulnerable
as well as post-abortive girls and women. Miss Milford, for whom Jesus
Christ is Lord, is certified in Abortion Recovery with Oil of Joy Ministries,
Inc. She has also founded and governs Hebron House, a small rescue net
for “abortion-vulnerable” girls and their babies. Miss Milford
also boasts with two sons and their wives, children by them: Kaelan (7
years), and Abigail (9 months).
Archbishop Donald J.
Reece, D.D.
Most Rev. Donald J. Reece. D.D. has recently been appointed Co-Adjutor
Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kingston and returns to
the land of his birth after having spent 25 years as the bishop of the
Diocese of Saint John's-Basseterre, Virgin Islands. While serving as a
priest in Jamaica, he was the pastor of Aquinas parish, Chaplain to the
University of the West Indies, Rector of St. Michael's Seminary and Vicar
General of the Archdiocese of Kingston from 1974 to 1981. As a member
of the Antilles Episcopal Conference he has served as chairman of the
commission of youth and vocations as well as chairman of the commissions
of liturgy and ecumenism. He is a member of the Jamaica Council of Churches
and represents that august body in the press conference.
Mrs. Shirley Richards
Mrs. Richards has been a practising Attorney since 1982 and currently
serves as President of the Lawyers' Christian Fellowship. She hails from
Grange Hill, Westmoreland and attended the Hampton School, Malvern, St.
Elizabeth. She is married to Captain John Richards and is the mother of
two beautiful children, Johanna and Andrew. She attends Christian Life
Fellowship, Papine, St. Andrew and is well-known for her advocacy of Christian
principles in Jamaican public life.
Bishop C. Everton Thomas
Bishop C. Everton Thomas is a graduate of the Caribbean Bible Institute,
and has been in active ministry since he was eighteen (18) years of age.
Having gained much knowledge and experience both at home and abroad, he
now holds substantive positions as Presiding Prelate of the Emmanuel Apostolic
Church Inc., chairman of the Jamaica Pentecostal Union (Apostolic), and
chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Religious Media Commission
(LOVE 101 FM/TV). Bishop Thomas has ministered in the Caribbean, the U.S.A.,
Canada, the United Kingdom, South America, and Africa. He is married to
Jillian, and together they are the parents of a son, Brandon (18) and
daughter, Tiffany (15).
